Abstract

Introduction. When learning a foreign language for communication, most people want to be able to speak in a way that others can understand them. For this reason, learning the pronunciation of the target language is very important from the beginning. Beginners have a lot to learn, they need: a) promote the perception of one's ears to the sounds and sound patterns of a new language; b) learn new words to represent the things, actions and concepts they want to express; c) learn to connect a number of words together in an order that will be understandable to the listener; d) articulate sounds and use rhythms and pitch patterns that do not exist in the native language; e) orally answer questions in English; f) communicate with other English speakers; g) speak English in everyday life. The ability to pronounce clearly is a vital part of effective oral communication, and teachers of beginning students play a key role in helping them establish good habits in both pronunciation and listening recognition early on. Pronunciation lessons for beginners can help them gain the ability and confidence to speak English clearly and start their journey in learning a foreign language.Purpose. The main goals of our research can be considered the clarification of the possibilities of the most effective combination of traditional methods of teaching English phonetics with the use of modern online resources and suggestions for their use by a wide pedagogical community. Methods. In the article the methods of analyses and synthesis were applied for processing the materials; descriptive and comparative for the practical part of the research. Originality. The research has not been previously presented at any periodicals or conferences. Results. Effective teaching of pronunciation must be based on certain principles and take into account certain factors. For the purposes of teaching English phonetics, it may be useful to consider some aspects (for example, the attitude function of intonation) that, according to some scholars in the field, learners are better able to learn without teacher intervention, with the advantage that this allows more room for student initiative. Effective teaching of English phonetics is an extremely difficult issue in ESL/EFL teaching. To make the formation of phonetic skills effective, several factors and principles should be taken into account. Mastering phonetics is essential for foreign language learners to improve their speaking and listening skills in English. In the process of learning phonics, students learn to produce and distinguish the sounds of the English language, how the sounds combine to form meaningful words and sentences. Sounds are critical to effective communication, especially in academic and professional environments. Online phonetics training offers a flexible and convenient alternative for learners who want to improve their knowledge and skills in English pronunciation and comprehension. Conclusion. The process of teaching students of pedagogical specialties of English phonetics is quite complex and multifaceted. For its effective implementation and the achievement of the maximum possible results in each individual case, certain principles should be followed, and the approaches and techniques analyzed and proposed by the author should be used. In the conditions of both classroom and distance learning, the most effective and accessible online resources should be used, as they shorten the time it takes to develop phonetic skills at an acceptable level and make the learning process more emotionally positive, and therefore more effective.
