INTERDISCIPLINARY CONNECTIONS AND ITS USING DURING PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF THE PROSPECTIVE TEACHER OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND FOREIGN LITERATURE

Abstract

Introduction. At the current stage of historical development, Ukraine needs to preserve and form the nation's intellectual potential. Under such conditions, there arises the issue of forming an intellectually developed personality with a holistic, harmonious outlook, which is aware of the importance of connections between the phenomena and processes of the surrounding world and is able to solve complex intellectual tasks in the conditions of real life. One of the factors in solving this problem is introducing of interdisciplinary connections in the educational process, which is actually an applied aspect of those integration phenomena that are taking place in the field of education today. It provides a combination of theoretical and practical training for students and contributes to the formation of a holistic professional outlook through the synthesis of scientific knowledge. The introducing of interdisciplinary connections into the educational process is one of the effective ways of updating the content of educational programs, especially in the context of designing the educational process in the format of a competency approach and gradual transition to practice-oriented education.Purpose. The article aims to investigate the ways of implementing the interdisciplinary connections in the process of professional training of the prospective teacher of English language and foreign literature as a means of strengthening his competitiveness in the Ukrainian labor market. Methods. Analysis, synthesis, comparison, systematization of regulatory documents, and generalizationwere used. Results. The article analyzes the current state of implementing the interdisciplinary connections in the educational process. The historical foundations of implementing the interdisciplinary connections and modern approaches to it in Ukraine are revealed. The specific features of the English language make it possible to use the relationship with various disciplines of the cycle of general and professional training for the purpose of forming general and professional competencies. The fundamental difference in the establishment of such interdisciplinary connections is their professional and pedagogical orientation, since the implementation of interdisciplinary connections only at the informational level cannot serve as an effective means of improving the quality of the educational process. Originality. The scientific novelty of the research results is the analysis and summarization of implementing the interdisciplinary connections in the process of professional training of the prospective teacher of English language and foreign literature. Conclusion. The implementation of interdisciplinary connections in the educational process helps students and future specialists to gather knowledge from individual subjects into a single integrated set of knowledge and teaches them to independently establish such connections in the future when solving theoretical and practical tasks in a professional activity. At the same time, the use of interdisciplinary connections ensures effective formation of cognitive and creative independence, creative and critical thinking of prospective philology teachers, a high level of their qualifications, which will contribute to successful functioning and competition in the market of educational services.
