Abstract

Research into the specifics of developing and implementing start-up projects is a beneficial part of the start-up ecosystem and start-up accelerators. They are responsible for supporting young, innovative businesses with innovative ideas at the early stages of their development. Problems related to building a business model, raising funds for business development, or determining the direction of development of the products and services offered are often just the tip of the iceberg, which can become a severe obstacle to market survival and commercial success. This research paper aims to analyse the relationship between the startup ecosystem markers that illustrate the specifics of startup implementation and the startup accelerator markers that serve as a basis for determining the specifics of startup development. For this purpose, a literature review was conducted that describes the issues related to startup accelerators and the startup ecosystem by applying the analysis of causal relationships between markers and correlation and regression analysis. The study found that ecosystem markers have the most significant impact, but this impact is generally negative. Assessment of startup accelerator markers, on the other hand, increases the chances of their successful development. The authors hope that this study will be a valuable resource for theorists and practitioners conducting future research on startup accelerators and ecosystems and will also be helpful support for practitioners from such entities as startups, accelerators, corporations, and government agencies. This research will be especially relevant for shaping China's economic policy to increase the number of venture capital investments and the total number of new businesses. It is important to note that the academic community still needs to fully identify the mechanisms accelerators use to influence their stakeholders and what changes could be made to these mechanisms to meet the needs of the broader programme ecosystem.
