Abstract

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia is a tumor disease of the blood system characterized by increased formation and accumulation of morphologically mature lymphocytes in the blood, but these cells are functionally defective, which causes a violation of the immune system, an increased tendency to autoimmune reactions. This type of hemoblastosis is most widespread in Europe and North America. The risk of developing this disease, according to statistics, is slightly higher in men than in women. It occurs most often in the elderly (the average age is 70 years), but recently there have been trends towards rejuvenation of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. For a long time, this hemoblastosis has been asymptomatic, signs of progression are an increase in lymph nodes, liver, and spleen. This disease is practically incurable, slowly developing, however, chemotherapy is used to reduce the total lymphocyte mass. One of the main drugs that are used in the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia is chlorbutin (an alkylating agent), the effect of which I will consider in this article.
