Abstract
Menopause is a physiological process in a woman's body, during which, against the background of age-related changes, involutional processes in the reproductive system dominate. Often, it can take on the pathological character of menopausal syndrome, various factors can contribute to this. Menopausal syndrome is a symptom complex that includes vegetative-vascular, mental and metabolic-endocrine disorders that occur against the background of a decrease in the hormonal function of the ovaries, which significantly reduces the quality of life of a woman. This complication of the natural course of menopause is observed in 30-60% of women. It occurs as a result of a deficiency or significant fluctuations in the level of estrogens in a woman's body. Hormone replacement therapy is prescribed for the treatment of this syndrome, which is currently the gold standard in the treatment of women with menopausal syndrome. One of the drugs prescribed to patients with this syndrome is estriol, the properties and mechanism of action of which I will consider in this article.
