Abstract

Malignant neoplasm is a disease characterized by the appearance of uncontrollably dividing cells capable of invasion into adjacent tissues and metastasis to distant organs. The prevalence of this pathology continues to grow every year — every sixth death in the world occurs from cancer. In terms of mortality, malignant tumors occupy the second place, second only to diseases of the cardiovascular system. If we consider the most common types of cancer, we can conclude that in terms of the number of both cases and deaths, lung cancer is in the first place, breast cancer is in second place in terms of the incidence of malignant tumors, colon cancer is in third place, prostate cancer is in fourth place, completes the list of the most common malignant tumors — stomach cancer. This pathology is one of the most pressing health problems. Medicine is being improved, more modern treatment methods are being developed for the treatment of malignant neoplasms, including: radiation therapy, immunotherapy, surgery, as well as chemotherapy. One of the drugs used is methotrexate, the effectiveness of which I will consider in this article.
