THE ROLE OF IMPLEMENTING INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION PLATFORMS IN THE INNOVATIVE DEVELOPMENT OF CONSTRUCTION

The article explores the prospects and challenges of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the construction sector. It emphasizes the need for implementing information solutions to enhance the efficiency and speed of construction, reduce costs by optimizing all involved information and material processes, and ensure effective management at various stages of construction — from planning and budgeting to the subsequent commissioning of facilities, as well as the early detection and processing of potential shortcomings. Drawing on the theoretical works of experts in this field, the author analyzes the advantages and risks of implementing ICT in construction specifically in Ukraine, considering the conditions of post-war country rebuilding, such as the acceleration of construction and resource savings among the advantages and the high cost of implementation and a shortage of qualified personnel among the weaknesses. Providing a detailed SWOT analysis, the author concludes that the thriving of ICT in construction is possible, but there is a risk of infrastructural dependence, complicating the future shifting away from the dated systems. The author cites examples such as the 1C and AVK product lines, suggesting that the earliest popular solutions are not always optimal in the long run. The article serves as a valuable source for professionals in the construction industry, especially for top-level managers involved in planning and mapping development strategies for their enterprises. It can also serve as a guide for IT specialists aiming to develop information and communication platforms for construction, by providing them with information about the unique demands of the industry and the functional requirements for their product from potential users among building professionals.
