Abstract
In this article In The Miso Soup by Ryu Murakami is studied as an example of consumer culture’s degenerating effect on social structure. The events and characters of the novel which criticizes Japan’s moral and cultural erosion are analyzed and serial killer Frank is studied as a symbol for the global violence. Following the tracks of postmodern globalization out of the novel, the case of Itzcoatl Ocampo, a Mexican American serial killers recent case is examined.
