On the etymology of the names Videvut and Bruten

Abstract
The article examines the origin of the names of the legendary Prussian princes Videvut and Bruten. It has been established that they originate in the Baltic language environment, reflecting the masculine, military principle. Toponyms associated with Prussia and mentioned in the historical work of Simon Grunau have also been studied. The etymology of the horonyms Prussia, Ulmigania, oikonyms Noyto, Honeda, Nangast has been considered. It has been established that the settlement on the site of today's Kaliningrad is 1510 years old since its first mention in a historical document.
