Abstract

The Zoroastrians of Iran, as well as the Iranians in general, have an ancient extensive and varied etiquette, verbal and non-verbal. Speech etiquette, otherwise known by the Arabic word “ta'aróf,” is an important part of socio-communicative activity in Iran as a whole, namely the complimentary system. It is realized in a certain set of etiquette lexical formulas, their numerous repetition; in special intonations; in specific etiquette gestures, movements and poses; in facial expressions; in ceremonial actions. And it permeates and constitutes an integral part of the entire process of speech communication. The Arabs, who this term comes from, have speech etiquette that is absolutely not the same as the Iranians, either in content or quantity. The article examines specific examples of Zoroastrian speech etiquette, original and common with Persian.
