Abstract
The war between Iraq and Iran is one of the most important military events in the world, in which various military strategies have been used. This war, which started for various reasons, lasted for eight years. Various reasons have been involved in the prolongation of this war, one of these reasons is the military strategies adopted by Iraq. Since the strategies adopted by Iraq played a significant role in the failure of the Iranian fighters to achieve the determined victory in order to force Iraq to accept Iran's demands and have better conditions in the negotiations, it is necessary to address the strategy adopted by Iraq. For this purpose, this research seeks to answer this main question, what is the nature of Iraq's static and mobile defense strategy and what are its components? The hypothesis formulated for this research shows the multi-layered defensive components in static defense and the high mobility of infantry and armored units in mobile defense in addition to the nature of absolute static defense against the defensive-offensive nature of mobile defense strategy. This research has been written with a descriptive-analytical method through library sources and the use of military documents related to the war.
