Some Considerations on the Name of Kalmyk

Studies carried out incident to Kalmyks, currently living in an autonomous region of the Russian Federation, in the north of the Caspian Sea, has revealed that this name is used in reference to the Western Mongolians in general. However, when these studies are analyzed it can be seen that the name Kalmyk is referred to different groups and as such a unity in the use of the name cannot be achieved. In this study, We have tried to reach a conclusion about the use of the name which has left a significant mark in the Turkish world and Turkish history after Timur through bringing together cited different uses.
