Abstract

The article is devoted to studying the problem of ?his-alien? in the F. Liszt’s works, which manifested in the use of symbols and images of the Baroque. It is argued that Baroque music was often ?strange word? in the works of romantic composers, particularly Franz Liszt. Questions symbiosis of style (baroque-romanticism) disclosed in the semantic analysis F. Liszt’s ?Variations on Bach?. Using complex characters and musical-rhetorical figures of the Baroque, F. Liszt creates a unique product that reflects the ?stylistic memory? and grows into a symbol of ?baroque romanticism?.
