Abstract
The study of encephalic asymmetry is prospective in the context of research concerning the integral brain activity. A group of patients suffering from focal epilepsy has been studied. The goal of this investigation was to find out differences in electrophysiological characteristics of patients with focal epilepsy comparing to healthy subjects as well as to patients suffering from generalized forms of epilepsy, using neurophysiological methods of research. The results of this investigation show that encephalic asymmetry influences the neurophysiological peculiarities in focal epilepsy. Right-handers and left-handers have more similar neurophysiological characteristics, a group of ambidexterity patients having quite different organization. Thus, hemispherical interactions represent one of the systemic brain peculiarities which may influence the development of epilepsy.
