Сultural identity of modern ukrainians: freedom as spiritual choice

Abstract
The article deals with the phenomenon of the Maidan as a bifurcation point for modern Ukraine and the construction of its axiological system. The author examines the different interpretations of freedom by Ukrainians and demonstrates how this has affected on the socio-political processes in different regions of the country. Reflections of the author are supported by sociological research material, which allows to make philosophical generalizations. Jung’s theory of archetypes is productive used by the researcher: in particular, it is a fruitful to use of the archetype of Initiation, which provides the transition to adulthood, an act of deprivation of infantile inhibitions and fears, the stage of self-improvement, learning the deep secrets, which are unknown to children. At the same time, it is overcoming that, what Fromm interpreted as "escape from freedom", ? conformity, accord with generally accepted stereotypes of behavior.
