Abstract

The number of patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM type 2) in the world is growing steadily. These pathological conditions have a common pathogenesis: association with obesity and insulin resistance. The pathogenesis of NAFLD has been studied properly. At the same time endocrinologists pay insufficient attention to NAFLD in patients with DM type 2, so the main task of endocrinologists is the identification of reliable diagnostic markers of this disease in order to prescribe effective treatment. The article presents the current understanding of the pathogenesis, clinical picture, diagnosis, main groups of drugs and the prospects for the treatment of NAFLD.
