Abstract

This article tries to investigate the role of loan-words and terms in creating euphemism. Euphemism has been appointed to a word or expression which are used instead of taboo, unpleasant and improper concepts and events. There are different tools to create euphemism and one of the most prominent ones is borrowing. Different linguistic and cultural interactions with other languages and cultures will lead to language richness (blooming). Loan-words not only are used to name concepts and new realities, but also they appear in form of euphemisms, since all speakers of one language are not able to understand the alien words. Loan-words reduce the negative effects of unpleasant concepts. Foreign terms are appropriate for generating euphemism, because they refer to abstract concepts. Foreign words and terms which are used as euphemism mainly belong to distinguished and inscription style and directly imply the realities and events. The subject of our research are some loan-words which appear as euphemisms and we extracted these loan-words from Russian euphemism dictionary compiled by E. P. Senichkina and Sokhan Comprehensive Dictionary written by Hassan Anvari. The innovation of this research is that for the first time, the role of loan-words as an extremely useful tool in creating euphemism are investigated contrastingly in Russian and Persian languages
