Abstract

Sugar-eş'Şam region, which refers to the Byzantine-Islamic border line, has experienced dozens of wars in the ninth and tenth centuries. In this process the border defense of the Islamic region against Byzantium was made by the Abbâsîd state, In addition to the Abbâsî state, the Tolun, the İhşidi and the Hamdani states had also done this task. Byzantium seriously increased their attack in the tenth century, thus capturing the border of castles. So the border crossing from Tarsus to Aleppo and defense was made in the city of Halep. We see that the Turks, who fulfill the protection of the Islamic states in the military position, had undertaken this task in the direction of their own initiatives. Even in 967, we see that under the command of Muhammad b. Isa, almost five thousand Turks from Horasan came to Aleppo for help Seyfuddevle. While Byzantine, in this process, is so close to seizing the entire region up to Damascus, abandon all these objectives, leaving the region in 967 years by signing the Treaty of Aleppo has emerged as an interesting development.
