Abstract

Ilkhanid Sovereign Gazan Khan (1295-1304) who was named Mahmud after converting to Islam and accepting Islam as the official religion of the state mounted three expeditions during his ruling of the country. Ibn Teymiyye fought against Ilhanids with his pen and sword on the Mamluk-Turkish State side. He gave a fetwa of fake Islam of Gazan Han's application that combines Islam and Cengiz laws. Ibn Teymiyye was known with his Salafi thoughts but came into prominence for belonging to Hanbeli sect during his life and he fought against Ilkhanids during the 100 (hundred) days of invasion of Syria. He encouraged those soldier who were hesitant to fight as he was calling public to stand against Ilkhanids with his fetwas. It has been reported that he convinced Mamluk King Nasir Muhammed b. Kalavun by dissuading him from going back while his army was going towards Syria with Egypt army.
