Abstract
The article considers history of development and main features of traditional pottery production on the territory of Myshkinskiy uyezd of the Yaroslavl province in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The introductory part is devoted to actual aspects of historical and artistic study of traditional pottery crafts of Russia, aimed at their preservation and promotion. The next part of article describes the artistic and technological characteristics of the traditional Myshkinskiy pottery, economic and social aspects of history of its development on the basis of the museum materials, the pre-revolutionary and modern research and publications. The concluding part is devoted to the problem of modern conditions of the craft, the prospects of its revival on the example of pottery workshops, regular pottery master-classes and festivals.
