LMS MOODLE AS A SOFTWARE COMPONENT OF THE BLENDED LEARNING STUDENTS OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Abstract

Technology development in the information society requires specialists of different areas and specialties the mastery of high level information and computer literacy, understanding of the challenges and the ability to navigate in a complex and changing world. As a consequence, universities need to adapt educational process to the new realities, including online education. Individualization of training causes increases role of self-education as one of the key aspects of preparation of experts and improvement of their knowledge and skills. The article analyses the views of foreign scientists on the use of a combination of traditional and distance forms of educational process. A number of problems which are solved by the use of blended learning are highlighted. This approach is aimed at improvement of educational process in universities, including in the development of the knowledge necessary to work in conditions of maximum diffusion of information and communication technologies. Blended learning allows to democratize the process of education and, at the same time, promotes the development of critical thinking, disciplinary students, teaches them to plan their activities. Key assumptions of blended learning, which the teacher must implement, are stressed. LMS Moodle combines affordability and configuration simplicity with flexibility and ability to adapt to different characteristics of educational process – creation of a platform for distance learning courses or involvement in the organization of blended learning. The choice of LMS Moodle for submission of using blended learning on the basis of the subject "New information technologies" for students of both humanitarian and natural specialties is justification. The aim of the course is the formation of modern information culture and computer literacy in students, the acquisition of practical skills of work with modern information and computer technologies. There are a number of advantages of the offered system as teacher and students. The author describes the combination of the classical approaches to organization of educational process with the communicative possibilities of the LMS Moodle. T he article deals with features of the system, in the framework of mixed approach to enhance the efficiency of obtaining knowledge of students, in particular information and computer literacy and the individualization of their learning. The importance of organizing learning and teaching of students, based on the starting position of the approach chosen is started as one of the most promising in the information society.
