Abstract

Introduction. The expertise of a teacher working with a literary text is determined by their ability to comprehend not only the pedagogical contents of the work which should be rendered to their students with the highest degree of proximity, but also the secrets of the artistic influence of the work. The awareness of these secretes determines the efficiency level of methods used by students' learning of a literary work at reading classes. Thus, it is essential to describe the ways of artistic influence of literary works by Sukhomlynsky for children, which determine the pedagogical potential of the latter. Purpose. The purpose of the article is to investigate the educational potential of artistic literary stories by Sukhomlynsky, which is determined by the level of their literary merit, that is, by the ability to emotionally influence a student. Studying the literary heritage of the outstanding pedagogue from this point of view, we make it our objective to draw attention of the pedagogic community to this phenomenon which possesses powerful artistic ethical and educational potential. Research methods. Apart from pedagogic approaches to the problem insights, definitions of literary studies are used. Basic research results. It has been identified that there are two levels dominant in the poetics of artistic pedagogical works by Sukhomlynsky. These are 1) the inner world of a literary work, 2) its subtext realm. This thought is supported by the analysis of two stories. Fairy-tales and stories of various genres (landscape mini-sketches, schizzos, short stories, parable stories etc.) were written by Sukhomlynsky as works with expressive parable action. However, the writer took into account that aesthetic influence is the most effective means of upbringing as it appeals to the emotional world of a child. The emotion powered with the aesthetic, in other words, with the artistic, is the emotion of the noblest character. And that is what determines the educational potential of literary pedagogical works by Sukhomlynsky. Originality of the research results. This is the first time poetics of artistic pedagogical works by Sukhomlynsky has been investigated with the help of literary studies approaches. Conclusions and author's proposals. Recent years have witnessed a reduction in the number of works by Sukhomlynsky studied at school. This fact is an alarming sign, which testifies apparent undervaluation of the outstanding pedagogue's literary artistic heritage, which belongs to the highest ranks of not only Ukrainian, but also world artistic pedagogical childhood literature. Taking into consideration powerful educational potential of the stories by Sukhomlynsky, we recommend to use them more extensively for reading and analyzing in the primary school.
