Abstract

Increases of women's autonomy, emancipation as well as reduced fertility are some of causes of changes in the traditional model of a male partner in the care and upbringing of children. As is clear from international research, contemporary father more often stays with the child since early childhood, even when he participate in its birth. In contemporary culture, there are two competing paradigms of masculinity. Traditional recognizes it as dominance and specialization in certain fields. It is assumed that the father works professionally, and his mother is a housewife and children. The man, therefore, that plays the role of breadwinner, must not engage in child care and housework - are the duties of women. My father is a teacher and not a firm partner of children. However, still is father a parent less known to children than mother. The purpose of the present article is to show the relationship between the age of becoming father for the first time and the realization of roles in the family. The aim of research was to try finding answers to questions which resulted from the following study issues: – at what age and for what reasons the respondents entered into marriage, – how the respondents fulfilled their parental roles, – whether there is a difference in the implementation of parental attitudes in the light of the age of the tested fathers.
