Abstract
Let us begin with the history of special education in the main disability groups (deaf, blind, mentally handicapped), mentioning the most important authors as Fray Pedro Ponce de León or Pestalozzi, among others, analyzing their contributions. Continue with the institutions, which appear in the nineteenth century, we find authors like Pinel and Esquirol, who try to improve their conditions, so we will focus on medical and educational assistance in the twentieth century, where we take a step model medical pedagogical model, change In the design of special education until the end of special educational needs, which was the Warnock Report which changed the basis for defining the disadvantages and practice of integration, focusing on the kind of response that the school should give to children with special educational needs, these being the curricular adaptations.
