Abstract

Different genres of literary fairy tales are distinguished in literary criticism, and such a variety as a fairy-tale novel deserves special attention. Exactly these fairy-tale novels have been written for children for more than half a century by V. Nestaiko. He still remains not only the most frequently printed, copied author, but the most in demand. Despite a large number of literary and methodological developments, the artistic works of this genre have hitherto been overlooked by Ukrainian linguists, although their linguistic wealth can be considered as a subject of a separate scientific research, since the word with the subtle shades of its meaning enters the child's consciousness precisely through fairy-tale images. In our opinion, as the elements of the creation of a fabulous story, for a separate consideration deserve phraseologisms, which from the point of view of communicatively conditioned functioning of language signs due to its information potential play an important role in the artistic speech. Consequently, the established expressions used by the author perform a certain stylistic role. They are used for the artistic reproduction of spoken language, both in the author's text and in the linguistic parties of characters, contributing to their typification, individualization. Phraseologisms, embedded by V. Nestaiko in the mouth of the characters are thematically selected and construct the desired context, through which the characters, typical situations, images have been created. In addition to the phraseologisms characteristic of the Ukrainian language, the writer actively uses phraseological units from other languages. These phraseological units belong to the international fund, their introduction in the texts of fairy tales, probably are connected with the V. Nestaiko's efforts, nevertheless, to emphasize that the Ukrainian culture is a component of world culture and adopts its best traditions. On the basis of the performed research, the qualitative composition of the phraseological units of fairy-tale novels by V. Nestaiko has been determined, the lexical and text paradigm of specific Ukrainian phraseological units and the borrowed ones has been compared, and the pragmatic and functional and stylistic features have been described. On concrete examples it has been observed how phraseological units fill up the performance of the characters by depth and verdure; provide artistic sound, lexical and syntactic sophistication, perfection, expressiveness and national flavor.
