Abstract
This paper seeks to understand the complexities that have unfolded in the context of literacy and sustainable development, considering the implementation of emergency measures by the government of India to deal with the pandemic. With the world turning virtual, there are several reports doing rounds indicating towards the increase in school drop-out rates. The paper will focus on how this lack of education and/or inaccessibility due to the unavailability of devices/stable internet connections, during the formative years can lead to severe environmental impacts in the long run, undermining the Sustainable Development Goals.
