Abstract
The Bengal Renaissance as a movement is characterized by a social awakening in the field of art, culture, science, intellect and society as a whole. The movement was carried out from the nineteenth century to the early twentieth century, which is during the period of British rule in India. The movement was quite radical in nature and was aimed at the radical reforms in society. Amidst the new beginnings, great personalities like Raja Rammohun Roy were instrumental in the general upliftment of the contemporary social situation. Besides being a great social reformer, Rammohun also made a valuable contribution to Bengali Literature. He studied multiple religious systems and languages including Buddhism, Sanskrit, English, Persian, and Arabic to mention a few. This paper aims to focus on his religious outlook, as portrayed in his polemical work ‘Tuhfat-ul-Muwahhidin' as a document of his vision of New India.
