Abstract
His paper deals with implicit negation as a linguistic process in Arabic, and its different uses in the Holy Qur'an through three grammatical and rhetorical processes, namely: (idhrab) opposition, (tamani) wish and (istifham) questioning. We have dressed a comparative approach between Arabic and French based on Sheikh Hamza Boubakeur's translation of the meanings of the Holy Qur'an. We have discussed five examples taken from the Holy Qur'an in which the negation is expressed implicitly. We have analyzed the translation of those examples and focused, mainly on the way the translator had dealt with the indirect form of negation. To achieve the purpose of this paper, we have adopted an analytical and comparative method by analyzing the verses linguistically, morphologically, lexically and, especially, grammatically and rhetorically to get their meanings before comparing them with their translation into French.
