ANALYSIS OF ECONOMIC ACTIVITY OF FORESTRY ENTERPRISES IN UKRAINE

The article analyses the indicators of economic activity of the forestry sector of Ukraine. It is indicated that forest plantations are among the significant natural assets of mankind. Due to its restorative properties, forest resources perform a key role in human life and the country's economy as a whole. It is stated that the economic, social and environmental development of the country depends on the efficiency of the forestry sector. Given the role of this industry and the importance of its development in the country's economic system, there arises a necessity and urgency to conduct an analytical study of statistical indicators, including economic activity, in the field of forestry in Ukraine. The analysis of recent studies and publications regarding activities in the field of forestry has shown a high level of development of the issue in this area, however, the interpretation of statistical indicators of economic activity in this area requires more detailed study. The results of the financial and economic activities of the forestry enterprises of Ukraine for the period 2020–2022 and the first half of 2023 are analysed. It is established that forestry is currently a profitable area of development of the country's economy. The main trends in the development of the forestry sector of Ukraine in the current conditions are determined. The problems that hinder the development of forestry enterprises in Ukraine in modern conditions are outlined. It is summarized that economic activity in the field of forestry in Ukraine is formed on the basis of the activities of individual forestry enterprises and is aimed at maintaining forestry in accordance with the existing legislative requirements, in the course of which enterprises obtain and sell products of forestry importance. It is indicated that the answer to the question of how to solve the existing problems in the field of forestry in Ukraine lies in the implementation of economic and legal reforms which should be implemented by the State in the near future. The industry should be reformed on the basis of positive international experience in a similar industry and the performance indicators of the country's forestry sector.
