FUNCTIONAL STYLES OF THE MODERN UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE

The article deals with the peculiarities of the functional style of the modern Ukrainian literary language. The Ukrainian language has a broad system of styles that meet several different needs of the communication. Stylistic differentiation depends on the main speech functions – communication, announcement, act and influence. Language styles are units of stylistics. Every style has certain scale of distribution in the language and has a branch of use by speakers. It is essential to differentiate the speech forms – oral, written, spoken, book – in order to distinguish the styles properly. Although stylistic means of the Ukrainian language are used in every style, they function differently in the each of them. The aim of this article is to analyze lexical and grammar peculiarities of functional styles of the Ukrainian language. It is proved that every functional style has elements of another as the spheres of communication are not isolated. That is why styles and lexicon layers – that form the specifics of these styles – cannot be locked. Therefore, these days, stylistic system of Ukrainian language is characterized by the mutual influence and interpenetration of styles.
